Fluicell OG and bioprinting magician

After completing my bachelor's degree in China, I decided to pursue my master’s degree at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. My academic journey continued with a PhD at Chalmers, and just as I was completing my degree, I heard that Fluicell was recruiting. The timing was perfect, presenting and excellent to transition into the industry. The position was particularly exciting as it aligned closely with my research background, allowing me to apply my expertise in microfluidic tools and single-cell investigation in a hands-on research environment.

From single cells to tissue therapeutics

Joining Fluicell at its early stages was an exciting opportunity that allowed me to grow alongside the company while taking on a variety of roles. My journey began with a focus on developing cutting-edge products and applications utilizing microfluidic approaches for single-cell studies. Today, my work revolves around pioneering bioprinting applications, where we harness our technology to create sophisticated tissue models—such as cardiac tissues—that revolutionize drug development and reduce reliance on animal testing in scientific research.

One of my greatest achievements has been playing a key role in the development of Biopixlar, our groundbreaking bioprinting technology that drives Fluicell’s advancements in tissue engineering, drug discovery, and regenerative medicine. Bringing Biopixlar to life required a fusion of expertise spanning biotechnology, biology, physics, and mechanical engineering. To achieve this, we cultivated a dynamic, multidisciplinary team where diverse perspectives and expertise converged to push the boundaries of innovation.

What I cherish most about working at Fluicell is the spirit of collaboration and discovery. I thrive in an environment where brainstorming with colleagues transforms challenges into opportunities, and bold ideas become reality. While the development process is often demanding, the synergy within our team fuels groundbreaking achievements that drive us toward a future where science and technology reshape what’s possible.

Science is the ultimate puzzle

My passion for science was sparked by my family. Growing up, I watched them work in their labs, fascinated by the discoveries they made. Their dedication inspired me to follow in their footsteps and choose a similar path when I entered university.

As a child, I was endlessly curious, always asking questions—what, how, where, who, and when? Science provided the answers, and with every discovery, my fascination deepened. As one scientist put it, “I love puzzles, and to me, science is the ultimate puzzle.” That mindset resonates deeply with me. I see challenges not as obstacles but as opportunities to explore, solve, and innovate.

The thrill of uncovering something previously unknown or solving a problem once deemed impossible drives me forward. There are countless diseases for which no cure exists, and if my work can contribute to making even a small difference in this field, that, to me, is incredibly meaningful.

Always keep on trying

I have a deep passion for learning, constantly seeking new knowledge and creative ways to improve or innovate. In my free time, I love reading books that help me enhance efficiency, refine my skills, and bring ideas to life. What truly drives me is the ability to create something groundbreaking and see tangible results from my efforts—it’s an incredibly rewarding experience.

If I could give one piece of advice to anyone considering a career in science, it would be this: Never give up! Chase your dreams fearlessly, no matter what others may say. Embrace curiosity, connect with people from different cultures and backgrounds, and never shy away from new perspectives. Science is an extraordinary and limitless world—welcome to the adventure!
